  3.     EXTRADITED. Adnan Khashoggi, 54, ostentatious, peripatetic
  4. (twelve residences) multimillionaire Saudi businessman and
  5. financier; to New York City from a jail in Bern, Switzerland.
  6. Arrested by Swiss authorities last April at the request of U.S.
  7. prosecutors, he is charged with helping Ferdinand Marcos and his
  8. wife Imelda in real estate deals financed with funds stolen from
  9. the Philippine Treasury. Under terms of the extradition, Khashoggi
  10. will face prosecution for mail fraud and obstruction of justice but
  11. will not be tried on more serious racketeering charges, which are
  12. not punishable under Swiss law. Held without bail until his true
  13. worth is determined, Khashoggi faces five years in jail and a
  14. $250,000 fine if convicted.
